Imaging detectors are devices that are used to amplify the intensity of an optical signal. They are typically used to find and detect very low light level signals in a variety of applications like:
  • Night vision
  • LIDAR
  • Scientific applications
The intensified optical signal can either be output as an image or an electrical signal. Other applications include coupling to a CCD camera in either a gated or non-gated configuration. Gating the detector enables a very fast electro-optic shuttering technique for capturing images down to several nanoseconds in time duration while blocking unwanted signal.
